Poetry, to me, is the ability to look at reality whole and condense what's complicated into something you can carry — giving shape, through the song of word, to what usually stays formless. I look at the environment and the systems around a person the same way, and work through the sticking points with them by offering simple, realistic remedies to complex situations.
